TELPAS assesses English language proficiency in four domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Mathematics is not a language domain and is therefore not part of TELPAS.
The Listening domain evaluates a student’s ability to understand spoken English in various academic and social contexts, such as following directions or interpreting conversations.
The Speaking domain focuses on a student’s ability to effectively communicate in spoken English, showcasing proficiency in academic and conversational settings.
The Reading domain measures how well a student can read and comprehend written English, including academic texts and everyday materials.
The Writing domain focuses on how well students can express their ideas in written English, including appropriate grammar, vocabulary, and coherence, across academic and personal contexts.
