The EAWS qualification is awarded to sailors who have demonstrated a broad and in-depth knowledge of naval aviation operations, including aircraft systems, safety, and support functions. It is not intended to certify someone to operate aircraft, nor does it guarantee promotion to office ranks.
Only sailors attached to aviation-related commands, such as aircraft carriers, air stations, or aviation squadrons, are eligible to pursue the EAWS qualification. Submarine or destroyer assignments are not related to aviation.
The EAWS qualification enhances a sailor's understanding of all aspects of naval aviation, making them more effective in their role. However, it does no allow sailors to fly missions or automatically promote them.
The EAWS insignia symbolizes a sailor's proficiency in naval aviation operations, showcasing their advanced knowledge and practical skills in supporting naval aviation missions.
Earning the EAWS qualification demonstrates a sailor's proficiency and expertise in naval aviation, which can enhance career advancement opportunities and prepare them for higher levels of responsibility. It does not guarantee promotion or ability to fly aircraft.
