Instrumentation Identification is 32% of the CIS exam, so roughly one in three of your practice questions should be an instrument name, category or function match (hemostats vs. needle holders, rongeurs vs. curettes, laparoscopic vs. robotic components). Inspection, Testing, Integrity and Assembly (20%) and Quality and Information Systems (20%) together make up another 40%, so add insulation testing, sharpness testing, box-lock inspection, instrument tracking and documentation questions. Decontamination (12%), Preparation and Packaging (10%) and Disinfection and Sterilization (6%) are smaller domains that overlap heavily with CRCST material you already know.
Because HSPA sets the passing point with the Angoff method rather than a fixed percentage, do not chase a single target score.
