Answer

Public safety telecommunicators hold positions of significant trust and responsibility, handling sensitive information and critical emergencies. Maintaining a high standard of ethical and moral conduct, both professionally and personally, is vital to uphold public trust, ensure integrity in their duties, and effectively serve the community. Question 2

A _________ is anything of value intended to benefit the giver more than the receiver, given to a person because of position and authority rather than because of individual or personal qualities.

Accepted Answer

Gratuity

Answer

A gratuity is defined as something of value given, often with an expectation of favor or influence, to someone in a position of authority. Unlike a genuine gift, a gratuity is typically intended to benefit the giver by influencing the receiver's actions or decisions due to their official capacity, rather than being a personal gesture based on individual qualities.

Question 3

What is a sign of physical stress?

Accepted Answer

Answer

Insomnia, characterized by difficulty falling or staying asleep, is a common physiological symptom of stress. Prolonged stress can disrupt the body's natural sleep-wake cycle, leading to sleep disturbances and other physical manifestations like fatigue, headaches, or muscle tension. It directly impacts physical well-being and is a clear indicator of stress.

Question 4

Accepted Answer

B. False Basic life support

Answer

EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) are primarily trained to provide Basic Life Support (BLS), which includes fundamental medical care like CPR, first aid, and basic airway management. Advanced Life Support (ALS) procedures, such as administering IV medications or advanced airway techniques, are typically performed by paramedics, who have a higher level of training and expanded scope of practice.

Question 5

All students in the 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Program are expected to attend and successfully complete a CPR certification class.

Accepted Answer

True

Answer

It is standard and often mandatory practice for public safety telecommunicators, including 911 dispatchers, to be CPR certified. While they may not directly administer CPR, understanding the procedures is crucial for providing effective pre-arrival instructions to callers, which can be life-saving. This certification ensures they can guide callers through critical moments before first responders arrive.
