According to UAE Ministry of Education, “Her Excellency pointed out that, under this decision and in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the EmSAT will no longer be required for 12th-grade students seeking admission to higher education institutions.”[5]
The EmSAT (Emirates Standardised Test) is administered by the UAE Ministry of Education. The name covers several formats, and the rules differ between them, so check which one you are sitting before you plan.
EmSAT Achieve is computer-based, with randomised sections, questions and options, and it is booked through the UAE PASS portal. The Math specification lists 50 questions, computer-adaptive, with a test duration of 120 minutes. Achieve is no longer required for Grade 12 university admission, so confirm with your target institution whether it still asks for a score.
If you miss an Achieve test without an acceptable excuse, 30 days must pass from the date of the previous test before you can register again, and a retest fee applies. The amount is not published in the sources we checked. A withheld score can be appealed within 14 days of receiving it.
EmSAT Advantage is taken online on school devices only, not on personal ones. It is mandatory for targeted schools in grades 4, 6, 8 and 10, and there is no make-up assessment. Time allowed is 50 minutes per subject, with Arabic given 100 minutes.
EmSAT Baseline lasts 30 minutes, split into sessions of 15 minutes on separate days.
We did not find a published score scale in the sources used for this page. Fees, dates and score reporting can change, so treat the official EmSAT site as the final word.
The content areas below are copied from the official EmSAT content outline published by UAE Ministry of Education. The right-hand column shows which of our practice sets covers it.

Prepare for the EmSAT - Emirates Standardised Test exam with our free practice test modules. Each quiz covers key topics to help you pass on your first try.
These are practice questions written for this site, not questions from the real exam. Each explanation shows why the right answer is right and why the others are wrong.
Question: What is the difference between 'أل الشمسية' and 'أل القمرية' in Arabic?
Answer: B. Solar 'al' assimilates the ل into the following letter, while lunar 'al' pronounces the ل clearly
Explanation:
Option B is correct. Before a solar letter such as ش or س, the ل of the article is not pronounced and the following consonant is doubled, as in الشّمس. Before a lunar letter such as ق or م, the ل is pronounced clearly, as in القَمر.
Option A is wrong because the difference is in pronunciation, not in meaning. Option C is wrong because the pattern is set by the first letter of the noun, not by dialect. Option D is wrong because you can hear the difference when the word is read aloud.
Rule to remember: look at the first letter of the noun after the article. That letter decides whether the ل is assimilated or pronounced.
Question: Which sentence correctly uses the verb in the dual feminine form (المثنى المؤنث)?
Answer: A. الطالبتانِ كتبتا الواجب
Explanation:
Option A is correct. The subject الطالبتانِ is dual and feminine, and the verb follows it, so the past tense verb must agree in both gender and number. The dual feminine past ending is ـتا, which gives كتبتا.
Option B, كتبوا, is the masculine plural form, so it agrees with neither the gender nor the number of the subject. Option C, كتبنَ, is the feminine plural form, so the gender matches but the number does not. Option D, كتبَ, is masculine singular and agrees with neither.
Rule to remember: when the verb comes after its subject, it copies the subject's gender and number. Identify the subject first, then pick the ending that matches.
Question: What is the primary function of the lymphatic system in the human body?
Answer: B. Returning interstitial fluid to the bloodstream and supporting immune defence
Explanation:
Option B is correct. The lymphatic system collects fluid that leaks from the blood vessels into tissues and returns it to the bloodstream. Its lymph nodes also hold lymphocytes, the cells that respond to pathogens, which is why it supports immune defence.
Option A describes the digestive system, where enzymes and bile break down fats. Option C is wrong because red blood cells are made in bone marrow, while lymph nodes house white blood cells. Option D is wrong because body temperature is regulated by the brain and skin, not by the lymphatic system.
Rule to remember: for each body system, learn its main job first, then check each option against it and discard the ones that belong to a different system.
Start with the official material for the format you are sitting. Read the published specification or portal manual so you know the delivery mode, the time limit for your subject and how retakes work. Write down anything that differs from what you assumed.
Next, take one of our sets for your subject cold, such as EmSAT Mathematics, EmSAT English or EmSAT Arabic Language. Do not look anything up. Mark every question you got wrong or guessed, and sort those into topics.
Spend your next sessions on the weakest topics only. For each missed question, read the explanation, then say in your own words why the correct option is right and why each wrong option fails. If you cannot, the topic needs another pass.
Repeat a set after a gap, and compare which topics keep coming back. Practise under the time limit that applies to you, using a computer, since the real test is computer-based or school-device based.
Our questions are written by us and are not real exam questions, so use them to find gaps, not to predict your result. In the last days, review your list of missed topics and recheck the booking or school instructions on the official site.
Not for Grade 12 students. The Ministry of Education has said EmSAT Achieve is no longer required for Grade 12 admission to higher education. Individual universities may still set their own requirements, so check with the institution you are applying to.
It depends on the format. The Achieve Math specification lists 120 minutes. EmSAT Advantage allows 50 minutes per subject, with Arabic given 100 minutes. EmSAT Baseline lasts 30 minutes, split into sessions of 15 minutes on separate days.
The public specification for Achieve Math lists 50 questions. The test is computer-adaptive, which means it is taken on a computer. Other subjects and formats may differ, so check the specification for your subject on the official EmSAT site.
If you were absent without an acceptable excuse, 30 days must pass from the date of the previous test before you can register again. A retest fee applies, but the amount is not published in the sources we checked, so confirm it on the portal.
No. EmSAT Advantage is taken online on school devices only, because the test system is installed only on those devices. It is mandatory for targeted schools in grades 4, 6, 8 and 10, and there is no make-up assessment.
Students with a withheld score may appeal within 14 days of receiving the score. Follow the steps in the EmSAT portal students manual, and contact the official EmSAT support channels if the portal does not show how to submit the appeal.
