Editorial & Fact-Checking Policy
How Practice Test Geeks verifies exam facts: official sources only, verbatim-quote checks, numbered sources, automatic re-checks and expiry, honest dates and corrections.
How we keep exam facts accurate
Practice Test Geeks publishes free practice tests and study guides for thousands of certification, licensing and admission exams. Exam details such as fees, test dates, number of questions, time limits and passing scores change, so the facts on our pages come from one place: a register of facts that are each tied to an official source. This page explains how that register works, what we do when something changes, and how to tell us about a mistake.
Official sources only
An exam fact is recorded only when it was read on a page published by the organisation responsible for the exam: the exam owner or publisher, the licensing board or government agency, the standards body, or the official test vendor for that exam. We do not use prep-course blogs, forums, encyclopaedias or other practice-test sites as sources, and we never use our own pages as a source. Where facts differ by state or country, each value is recorded for its own jurisdiction and shown only on pages about that jurisdiction.
Verbatim-quote verification
Every recorded fact carries the address of the official page it came from and a short sentence copied word for word from that page. A fact counts as verified only when the number or date in it also appears in that copied sentence. When a value cannot be confirmed on an official page, we leave it out instead of estimating it. If an official body does not publish a figure (for example a state that does not publish its pass mark), our pages say so and point you to the official source rather than giving a number.
Numbered sources on every page
Exam facts on our pages are followed by a bracketed number such as [1]. The number links to the "Sources & last verified" list on the same page, which names the official source, quotes the sentence the fact was checked against (25 words at most), and shows the date the fact was last verified and the date the source page was last re-checked.
Automated re-checks and expiry
- Official source pages are re-checked automatically on a schedule. If the quoted sentence is still on the page, the fact's verification date is updated. If the sentence has gone or the page has changed, the fact is sent back for research, and the source is marked as changed until that research is finished.
- Dates expire on their own: a test date or registration deadline is removed the day after it passes and is never shown as upcoming once it is in the past.
- Other facts have a maximum age before they must be confirmed again: fees and delivery details 180 days, retake, renewal and eligibility rules 270 days, and question counts, time limits, passing scores and score validity 365 days. A fact that is not re-confirmed in time is taken off our pages.
- When a fact changes, every page that states it is found through the register and updated, usually within a day, together with our machine-readable summaries for AI assistants.
Honest dates
The "last updated" date of a page changes only when something a reader can see on it changes, for example a new fee or a corrected date. Re-checking a source without finding any change updates the "verified" date shown next to the facts, but not the page's update date. We do not put a newer date on a page to make it look fresh.
Corrections
If you find an error, please tell us through our contact page and include the page address and, if you can, a link to the official source. We check the report against the official source; if we were wrong, the fact is corrected in the register, every page that states it is updated, and on exam main pages that show a change history, the change is listed there with its date.
Who does this work
Research and fact-checking are carried out by the PracticeTestGeeks editorial team with automated tools that look up official sources, compare the quoted wording and track expiry dates. We do not name individual reviewers or claim professional credentials on fact sections that were not reviewed by a named person. Practice questions are study material written by us; they are not official exam questions, and the exam owners do not endorse our site.
