Look closely at C, though. Multiplying 3/4 by 3 on top and bottom gives 9/12, so 9/12 is also equal to 3/4. As written, this question has more than one equivalent fraction, and a well-built test item would not. If you see this pattern on a real test, check every option before you choose.

B, 2/3, and D, 4/5, are not equivalent. Neither can be reached from 3/4 by multiplying both parts by the same number.

Rule to remember: test every option against the same multiplier rule, and do not stop at the first match.

How to use these practice tests
