A monopoly exists when a single seller controls the market with no close substitutes available.
2. Choose the sentence with the correct punctuation:
✓ Sally likes to swim, but she doesn't like to run.
Explanation: The comma is used to separate the independent clauses in the compound sentence.
3. A stacked bar chart shows Category A at 40% and Category B at 60% of 300 total items. How many are in Category A?
✓ 120
Category A = 40% of 300 = 120.
4. A train travels 360 km in 4 hours. What is its speed in km/h?
✓ 90
Speed = Distance ÷ Time = 360 ÷ 4 = 90 km/h.
5. What is the value of x? Statement I: x² = 25. Statement II: x > 0. Which is sufficient?
✓ Both statements together
Statement I gives x = ±5 and Statement II eliminates the negative, so both together uniquely determine x = 5.
6. If 3x − 2y = 8 and x + y = 6, what is the value of x?
✓ 4
Substituting y = 6 − x into the first equation: 3x − 2(6 − x) = 8 → 5x = 20 → x = 4.
