Is the PHRca exam different depending on which state you take it in?
Relocating from one state to another in a few months and trying to figure out if my PHRca - Professional in Human Resources - California prep needs to change based on where I'll be taking the actual exam.
I've been studying "how long to prep for phrca" and the materials seem standardized, but I've heard the exam can vary by state or have different question weights.
Specifically wondering:
- Are passing scores the same across states?
- Does the content on what is phrca differ by state?
- If I pass in one state, does it transfer?
The official resources are confusing on this. Some say it's a national exam, others suggest state-specific versions exist.
Anyone who's taken PHRca in multiple states or knows how the portability works — would really appreciate the clarity before I invest more time in state-specific prep.
The free professional in human resources california trivia helped me understand what the exam actually tests rather than just what the material covers.
Passed PHRca 4 months ago. Happy to share what I remember.
On the "is phrca legitimate" stuff specifically — I found the practice tests here were actually harder than the real exam on those questions. Which was great because going in I felt more prepared than I needed to be.
The time pressure is real though. I came in with maybe 8 minutes to spare and that was after skipping the ones I wasn't sure about and coming back.
Don't try to cram the night before. Seriously. Last-minute stress makes you second-guess things you actually know.
Quick update: just cleared 89% on my most recent PHRca practice set using phrca ca hr strategy training and total rewards. Sitting for the real thing in 4 weeks. Feeling cautiously optimistic.
Coming back to this thread — just passed my PHRca yesterday. Everything about the phrca practice test section is accurate. For anyone still studying, the phrca ca hr strategy training and total rewards was the closest thing to the real exam I found.
Quick update for anyone following along. I just hit 78% on a full practice run last night which is the best I've done so far, up from like low 60s a few weeks back. The thing that finally clicked for me was drilling the CA specific stuff over and over, especially the safety regs. This set helped a ton: free professional in human resources california phrca ca health and safety
And to your actual question, the exam itself didn't change based on location when I looked into it. It's tied to the California content no matter where you physically sit it, so your prep doesn't need to shift just because you're moving. I'm planning to test in about three weeks once I'm consistently above 80. Wasn't sure I'd get there but it's coming together.
