Anyone found good free CRC study resources besides the obvious ones?
I've already gone through the standard "CRC" results on Google and most of it is just selling prep courses. Looking for actual free resources.
What I've tried:
- Practice tests here (solid, especially for CRC - Certified Rehab Counselor)
- A few YouTube channels but the quality is all over the place
- Reddit threads from 2+ years ago (some outdated)
What I haven't tried yet:
- The official CRC study guide — is it actually worth reading cover to cover?
- Library resources — anyone actually found useful materials there?
- Specific YouTube channels that cover CRC exam well
I don't mind paying for something that's genuinely better than free, but I want to max out free options first. Budget is tight.
What resources did you use that you'd actually recommend?
If you're looking for a starting point, the free crc counseling theories techniques is worth trying — the questions closely match what you'll see on test day.
Went through this exact question when I was prepping. The CRC material on "CRC" is actually not as bad as it looks — once it clicks it clicks.
What helped me was finding one resource that explained it from first principles instead of just giving me the "right answer." Made a huge difference on the scenario-based questions.
Also: don't underestimate the importance of reviewing your wrong answers more than your right ones. I learned more from 20 wrong answers than 200 correct ones.
Quick data point: I spent 4 weeks studying, 1-2 hours a day, and passed with a 83%.
The section on CRC exam took me the longest to feel confident about. Eventually I just drilled practice questions until I could answer them without hesitation.
What testing center did you end up booking? Some of them have much shorter wait times than others right now.
The advice about understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing right ones — is genuinely the best CRC advice in this thread. Rebuilt my prep around that and it made a real difference.
Quick update since I was in the same boat a few weeks back. I just took a full-length practice run this weekend and hit 78%, which I'll take considering I bombed the case management stuff the first time around. The thing that actually moved the needle for me was drilling the free crc case management vocational rehabilitation questions over and over until the patterns clicked. It wasn't pretty at first.
I'm planning to sit the real exam early next month, so I've still got a little runway to clean up my weak spots. If you're just starting out, don't stress the low scores early on. They climb faster than you'd think once you stop guessing and start understanding why the answers are what they are. Good luck.
