Finally passed CCCP after two attempts — here's what actually worked

So I just got my results back and I finally passed the CCCP exam on my second try. Honestly felt like crying when I saw it. First attempt I went in thinking my work experience alone would carry me, scored a 68% and needed a 75 to pass. Total wake-up call.

This time around I dedicated about 6 weeks to structured studying — roughly 90 minutes a day. The biggest game-changer was finding a solid CCCP practice test that actually matched the difficulty and format of the real thing. I went through maybe 400-500 practice questions total before I felt genuinely ready. The domains around crisis intervention and case documentation tripped me up the most, so I spent extra time there.

For anyone starting out, don't sleep on getting a good CCCP study guide that covers all the competency areas. The exam isn't just recall — they want you to apply concepts to scenarios, which is a different skill. Happy to answer questions if anyone's prepping right now. You've got this!

Congrats!! This is so motivating to read. I'm scheduled for mine in about 8 weeks and I've been low-key panicking. The scenario-based questions are what scare me most — like, I can memorize definitions all day but applying them under pressure is another story. Did you find any particular topic areas were way more heavily tested than you expected? I've heard the ethics section is brutal.

Second attempt here too, solidarity! One exam tip that helped me a lot was timing myself strictly during practice tests. Real exam pressure is different than casually reviewing material. Also, read every answer choice before picking — I missed a few on my first try because I jumped at the first answer that sounded right. The 'best' answer isn't always the obvious one, especially on the ethical dilemma questions.

This is the post I needed today. Sitting here with my study guide wondering if 6 weeks is enough time. Bookmarking this thread. Congrats on passing!
