CCCP exam - passed with 72%, is that score actually competitive for manager roles?

I passed my Certified Contact Center Professional exam last Thursday with a 72% and I'm genuinely not sure if I should be happy about that or embarrassed. The passing threshold is 70% so I cleared it, but my manager who also has the certification said he scored an 84% when he sat it 3 years ago. Is the exam getting harder or did I just underprepare?

I studied for about 5 weeks using the CCCP candidate handbook and a set of practice questions I found through a professional association forum. Looking back, I think I was strong on the operational metrics content - AHT, FCR, occupancy rates, SLA calculations, that kind of quantitative material. Where I struggled was workforce management and the technology sections. Those felt more conceptual and the questions were worded in ways that made two answer choices feel equally valid.

There were 150 questions total and a 3-hour window. I used almost all of it. The scenario questions in the employee development and quality monitoring sections were especially slow going because I kept second-guessing myself. I think I had about 20 scenario-style questions and probably got half of them wrong based on how uncertain I felt during those.

I'm mostly asking because I want to put this on my resume and I'm wondering if the score typically gets asked about or if just holding the cert is what matters. For context I'm in a team lead role and applying for contact center manager positions.

Your manager's 84% from 3 years ago isn't a fair comparison since the exam content gets updated periodically. Scoring 72% on an updated version with different coverage may represent similar mastery to what he demonstrated then.

Congrats on passing, it's genuinely not an easy exam.

I got a 76% on mine and felt the same uncertainty. The workforce management section really is harder than the operational metrics stuff - the scenarios have a lot of situational nuance that the exam forces into a single best answer, which is frustrating.

The technology section is where I dropped points too. Questions about omnichannel routing and AI-assisted call handling felt very current and I hadn't studied that material thoroughly enough. Worth flagging for anyone prepping right now.

For hiring purposes at the manager level, nobody's going to ask what score you got - just that you're certified. The credential itself is what matters on the resume, not the number behind it.

72% passing is passing. Put it on there without overthinking it.
