The Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) exam is for candidates with specification experience, including preparing or coordinating procurement and contracting requirements or general requirements. What the CCS is and how it works

According to Construction Specifications Institute, “All CSI exams will undertake a “passing score” analysis intermittently. This means the research to determine the “cut score” (to pass/fail) cannot be determined until all candidates have taken the exam and the testing window has closed.”^[1]

The Certified Construction Specifier credential is offered by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). Its exam covers analysis, coordination, planning, procurement and contracting requirements, production, and research. Eligibility includes experience preparing or coordinating Division 00 or 01, plus at least 2 years of specification experience with CDT certification or 5 years without CDT.

The computer-based exam contains 120 multiple-choice questions and allows 3 hours. Candidates can use remote proctoring or Meazure Learning test centers in the United States and its territories. CSI does not publish a fixed passing score. The cut score is determined through psychometric review after the testing window closes. Results are emailed roughly 6–8 weeks after that closure, so the wait is measured from the end of the window, rather than your appointment.

Unsuccessful candidates may retest in the next testing window, with a maximum of 2 attempts in 12 months. A new application and full registration fee apply unless optional Second Chance Insurance covers the retake.
