BME Graduate Handbook

The BME Graduate Handbook contains important departmental policies, procedures, forms and deadlines. It is recommended that students review this handbook regularly and consult with the Graduate Academic Advisor if they have any questions or concerns. This advisor will assist students in all aspects of the program including applications, admissions, graduation, tuition benefit and student health insurance.

BME faculty members are committed to teaching the fundamentals of scientific reasoning and logical thinking, as well as providing access to experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. These opportunities allow students to develop a more diverse knowledge base while building upon their technical expertise.

The BS/MS program is an integrated program for undergraduate engineering students who want to earn their BS degree and an MS in the same time period. BS/MS students will have the opportunity to enroll in coursework that counts toward both their BS and MS degree requirements as long as they are able to meet all of the graduate school requirements. Additionally, BS/MS students will be required to take a 1.0 credit hour writing and presentations course (BME 6090) every semester and 4.0 hours of 700-level Independent Study or Special Project.

BME Course

Students enrolled in the BME Course are given the opportunity to take advantage of a comprehensive education that includes hands-on experimentation. They learn how to use the principles of engineering and math to solve real-world problems. Students also receive the necessary support to excel in their careers. This includes access to internships and cooperative programs at local or national medical device manufacturers, hospitals or laboratories. Students are also given flexibility in their engineering specialization areas and are encouraged to participate in program evaluation and improvement.

The BME program is offered as a four-year undergraduate degree. Its core curriculum includes engineering design, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, mechanical systems and materials and advanced manufacturing. It also allows students to choose from a wide range of electives. These include the Career Gateway Electives (CGEs) and the Technical Tracks.

The Integrated BSME/MSE Program option allows qualified undergraduates to earn two degrees in a shorter time frame. This is achieved by applying AP and credit-by-exam courses, taking recommended summer courses, and enrolling in graduate-level engineering classes reserved for seniors.

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Questions and Answers

Yes, its a Bachelor of Science degree.

The design, development, and operational evaluation of physical systems require the application of mathematical and scientific principles, which are covered in bachelor’s degree programs in mechanical engineering. Students are also interested in the movement of substances like air and water as well as the transfer of heat.

Students seeking a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology can get their degree fully online while maintaining a high standard of education.

Students who complete the Bachelor of Science (BSME) program are prepared for a variety of vocations in engineering, business, or graduate school. Courses examine the foundational ideas of mechanical engineering and how they apply to current technological issues.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is abbreviated to as BSME.

The study of mechanical engineering is challenging. To succeed and acquire a bachelor’s, you will need to be proficient in math and science as well as discipline, commitment, and strong study techniques.

To become a licensed professional engineer, you typically need a degree from an ABET-accredited program.

It typically takes 3 years to complete a mechanical engineering major in the EU and 4 years in the USA. Mechanical engineering majors are available as B.Sc. or B. Eng. degrees (Bachelors of Science or Bachelors of Engineering).
