  1. All roses are flowers. Some flowers fade quickly. Therefore:

Answer: Some roses may fade quickly

Since only some flowers fade quickly, we can only conclude some roses might, not that all do.

  2. If no scientists are poets, and all poets are dreamers, which must be true?

Answer: Some dreamers are not scientists

Poets are dreamers but not scientists, so at least those dreamers are not scientists.

  3. A is taller than B. C is shorter than B. D is taller than A. Who is tallest?

    D > A > B > C, so D is the tallest.

If rain always cancels the match and it wasn't cancelled, it could not have rained.

  5. Some books are heavy. All heavy things are hard to carry. Therefore:

Answer: Some books are hard to carry

The heavy books fall into the hard-to-carry category, so some books are hard to carry.

  6. If P implies Q, and Q implies R, and P is true, what is true?

    Answer: R is true

P true forces Q true, which forces R true via the chain.
