The number 256 101 md, often seen in mathematics and computer science, is a combination of two separate numbers: 256 and 101. 256 can be represented as 28, meaning it is written in binary form β a representation of only the integers 0 and 1. When you divide a number by powers of two from right to left, each digit after the decimal point provides information about an individual bit (binary digit). In this case, 26 = 64 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 0 + 4, so the β1β that comes after it represents a single bit equal to 1. The second part of this equation is 101, written in decimal form or base 10 β composed totally out of integers from 0-9 β meaning one hundred one. This part shows us the actual numerical value of these bits that are taken from 256 down to 101, making up 109 bits altogether if counted all at once. With each bit capable of holding either a 0 or 1 state depending on its place within the sequence (the leftmost digit has the most significant contribution), we end up with 2109 possible combinations for those digits when assessed together, giving us a very large range of values available for use which makes this pretty helpful.
