When driving on a slippery road and your vehicle begins to skid, you should:

Answer: Steer in the direction you want to go and ease off the accelerator

In a skid, ease off the accelerator and steer smoothly in the direction you want the vehicle to go to regain control.

How does doubling your speed affect your braking distance?

Answer: It quadruples your braking distance

Braking distance increases with the square of speed, so doubling your speed quadruples the distance needed to stop.

You are driving at night on an unlit road. Your headlights allow you to see 100 metres ahead. You should drive at a speed that:

Answer: Allows you to stop within the distance you can see

You must always drive at a speed that allows you to stop within the distance your headlights illuminate ahead of you.

In a construction zone with workers present, what typically happens to the posted speed limit?

Answer: It is reduced and fines are doubled

In active construction zones with workers present, speed limits are reduced and fines for violations are typically doubled.

What should you do if you must drive through a large puddle of unknown depth?

Answer: Slow down, drive through carefully, then test your brakes afterward

Drive through slowly and carefully, then gently test your brakes to dry them and confirm they are working normally.
