  1. What is 3/8 ÷ 3/4?

    Answer: 1/2

    To divide fractions, multiply by the reciprocal: 3/8 × 4/3 = 12/24 = 1/2. Always keep the first fraction, change division to multiplication, and flip the second fraction.

  2. A line graph shows sales: Jan=$5,000; Feb=$7,500; Mar=$6,000; Apr=$9,000. What was the average monthly sales?

    Answer: $6,875

    Average = (5,000 + 7,500 + 6,000 + 9,000) ÷ 4 = 27,500 ÷ 4 = $6,875.

  3. Which expression is equivalent to −(3x − 2y + 5)?

    Answer: −3x + 2y − 5

    Distribute the negative sign to each term: −1(3x) = −3x; −1(−2y) = +2y; −1(5) = −5. Result: −3x + 2y − 5.

  4. A box has dimensions 4 ft × 3 ft × 2 ft. What is its volume?

    Answer: 24 ft³

    Volume of a rectangular prism = length × width × height = 4 × 3 × 2 = 24 ft³.

  5. If 5 workers can complete a job in 12 days, how many days will it take 3 workers at the same rate?

    Answer: 20 days

    Total work = 5 × 12 = 60 worker-days. With 3 workers: 60 ÷ 3 = 20 days. This is an inverse proportion problem.

  6. What is the range of the data set: 5, 12, 7, 19, 3, 15, 9?

    Answer: 16

    Range = maximum − minimum = 19 − 3 = 16. The range measures the spread of the data.
