The rule to remember: learn noun and preposition pairs as whole chunks, such as impact on, effect on and influence on. In cloze and grammar items, read the words before and after the gap and ask which fixed phrase they form, instead of translating word by word from Chinese.

Question: Which organelle is responsible for the production of ATP through aerobic cellular respiration in eukaryotic cells?

1. Chloroplast
2. Ribosome
3. Mitochondria
4. Golgi apparatus

Answer: C. Mitochondria

Explanation:

The correct answer is mitochondria. They are the site of aerobic respiration in eukaryotic cells, and most of the ATP is produced by oxidative phosphorylation across the inner membrane.

Chloroplast is wrong because its main role is photosynthesis, capturing light to build sugars in plant cells, not running aerobic respiration. Ribosome is wrong because ribosomes build proteins from instructions carried by RNA. Golgi apparatus is wrong because it modifies, sorts and packages proteins and lipids for delivery, rather than generating the cell's main ATP supply.

The rule to remember: attach each organelle to one main job and one keyword. Mitochondria go with aerobic respiration and ATP, chloroplasts with photosynthesis, ribosomes with protein synthesis, Golgi with packaging and sorting. Exam wording often hides the organelle behind its function.
