Road Signs and Traffic Signals Flashcards

In Ontario, a blue highway sign is used to indicate:

Answer: Services such as gas, food, or lodging nearby

Blue highway signs are informational service signs that direct drivers to nearby facilities like fuel stations, restaurants, and rest areas.

What does a 'SCHOOL BUS STOP AHEAD' sign require drivers to do in Ontario?

Answer: Reduce speed and prepare to stop if the bus is loading or unloading

This warning sign tells drivers to slow down and be ready to stop completely if a school bus ahead has its red lights flashing.

What does a solid white line separating lanes of traffic travelling in the same direction indicate in Ontario?

Answer: Drivers should stay in their lane and not change lanes across it

A solid white line between same-direction lanes discourages lane changes at that point, usually near intersections or where merging would be dangerous.

A sign with a red circle and a slash over a 'U' shape means in Ontario:

Answer: No U-turns permitted

The no U-turn sign, showing a U-arrow crossed by a red diagonal slash, legally prohibits drivers from making a U-turn at that location.

In Ontario, what colour are most construction zone warning signs?

Answer: Orange

Construction and maintenance zone signs in Ontario are orange, making them distinct from standard yellow warning signs and easy to recognise.

A 'KEEP RIGHT' sign instructs drivers to pass to the right of an obstruction such as a median, island, or barrier.
