CVT Electrocardiography (ECG/EKG) Techniques 1

Question 1

Which lead configuration provides a view of the heart’s electrical activity in the frontal plane?

Accepted Answer

Standard limb and augmented leads

Answer

The standard limb leads (I, II, and III) and augmented leads (aVR, aVL, aVF) provide views of the heart's electrical activity in the frontal plane.

Question 2

What does the P wave represent on an ECG?

Accepted Answer

Atrial depolarization

Answer

The P wave represents atrial depolarization, which is the electrical activation of the atria.

Question 3

Which part of the ECG tracing corresponds to ventricular depolarization?

Accepted Answer

QRS complex

Answer

The QRS complex corresponds to the depolarization of the ventricles, which triggers ventricular contraction.

Question 4

Which lead is typically used for rhythm monitoring in continuous ECG telemetry?

Accepted Answer

Lead II

Answer

Lead II is commonly used in telemetry because it provides a clear view of the P wave, QRS complex, and T wave.

Question 5

What is the correct placement for the V3 precordial lead?

Accepted Answer

Midway between V2 and V4

Answer

The V3 lead is placed midway between V2 and V4 on the chest wall.
