Anyone found good free CTP study resources besides the obvious ones?
I've already gone through the standard "CTP" results on Google and most of it is just selling prep courses. Looking for actual free resources.
What I've tried:
- Practice tests here (solid, especially for CTP - Certified Technical Professional)
- A few YouTube channels but the quality is all over the place
- Reddit threads from 2+ years ago (some outdated)
What I haven't tried yet:
- The official CTP study guide — is it actually worth reading cover to cover?
- Library resources — anyone actually found useful materials there?
- Specific YouTube channels that cover CTP exam well
I don't mind paying for something that's genuinely better than free, but I want to max out free options first. Budget is tight.
What resources did you use that you'd actually recommend?
If you're looking for a starting point, the free ctp technical skills expertise is worth trying — the questions closely match what you'll see on test day.
Went through this exact question when I was prepping. The CTP material on "CTP" is actually not as bad as it looks — once it clicks it clicks.
What helped me was finding one resource that explained it from first principles instead of just giving me the "right answer." Made a huge difference on the scenario-based questions.
Also: don't underestimate the importance of reviewing your wrong answers more than your right ones. I learned more from 20 wrong answers than 200 correct ones.
Passed CTP 9 months ago. Happy to share what I remember.
On the "CTP exam" stuff specifically — I found the practice tests here were actually harder than the real exam on those questions. Which was great because going in I felt more prepared than I needed to be.
The time pressure is real though. I came in with maybe 8 minutes to spare and that was after skipping the ones I wasn't sure about and coming back.
Don't try to cram the night before. Seriously. Last-minute stress makes you second-guess things you actually know.
For what it's worth from someone who's been through it:
The CTP is one of those exams where the practice tests really do prepare you well. The style of questioning is pretty consistent. If you're comfortable with "CTP" material under timed conditions, you'll be fine.
The one thing I'd add: read the question stems very carefully. They sometimes add a qualifier that completely changes the right answer and it's easy to miss when you're going fast.
Also check whether you need to schedule the exam in advance — some testing centers book up 2-3 weeks out.
Failed first attempt, came back to this thread. The consensus on ctp practice test being the make-or-break area is right. Focusing almost exclusively on applied questions this time around.
For anyone finding this later: CTP is passable with consistent effort even working full time. I studied 69 minutes a day for 12 weeks. The free ctp technical skills expertise kept me honest about my actual gaps.
