I passed the Tableau Certified Desktop Specialist about 18 months ago and I'm now targeting the TCC. The prep materials look much more involved and I'm trying to figure out how much additional study time I realistically need before scheduling the exam.
My current plan is 6 weeks at roughly 1.5 hours per day on weekdays. I work with Tableau daily so I'm not starting from zero, but the consultant-level content on enterprise deployment and architecture is new territory for me. I scored 71% on a mock assessment I found online, which felt about right given my knowledge gaps.
The scenario-based questions seem to be a big part of this exam. Has anyone found resources specifically targeting those? Most of what I can find online is geared toward the desktop-level exams and doesn't go deep enough on the consulting side.
Budget at least 10 hours just on server administration topics. That's where I lost the most points on my first attempt and had to go back and rebuild my understanding from scratch.
The TCC is significantly harder than the TCD — don't underestimate it. Plan for at least 8 weeks if you're not doing enterprise-level Tableau work day to day. The deployment content alone took me two extra weeks to feel solid on.
Tableau's own prep guide is actually decent for this one. Don't skip the sections on data governance and security — they show up more than you'd expect based on the exam outline.
Scenario questions tripped me up the first time I attempted this. Practice framing answers around business outcomes rather than just technical steps — that shift in thinking matters a lot.
