Time management during SSO exam — how fast are you supposed to go?

The SSO is one of those exams where the practice tests really do prepare you well. The style of questioning is pretty consistent. If you're comfortable with "sso id" material under timed conditions, you'll be fine.

The one thing I'd add: read the question stems very carefully. They sometimes add a qualifier that completely changes the right answer and it's easy to miss when you're going fast.

Also check whether you need to schedule the exam in advance — some testing centers book up 2-3 weeks out.

What helped me most with sso id specifically: stop thinking about it as a topic to memorize and start thinking about the types of decisions it's asking you to make. Once I shifted to that frame, my SSO scores in that section jumped about 18 points within a week.

I'll be honest, I almost quit after my first timed run. I had something like 15 questions left when the clock hit zero and I was convinced the format just wasn't for me. But here's what I figured out after a few more attempts: you're not supposed to spend 68 seconds on every question. Probably half of them are ones you either know cold or you don't, and those should take 20-30 seconds max. Answer them fast, flag the ones that make you think, and bank all that extra time for the hard ones at the end.

The other thing that killed me early on was rereading. I'd read a question three times because I didn't trust myself. Once I forced myself to read it once, pick an answer, and move on, my times dropped way more than I expected. It felt reckless at first but my accuracy barely changed. Passed on my actual attempt with about 10 minutes to spare, and this is coming from someone who genuinely thought the time limit was impossible. It's not. It just punishes perfectionism.
