I've been studying for 3 weeks at about 75 minutes a day and feel solid on NFPA 99 requirements and the physical properties side.
Where I'm less confident is the regulatory and compliance framework — specifically Joint Commission standards and state-level variance material. That content is dense and some of it shifts by jurisdiction in ways that are hard to pin down in a study guide. Also not totally sure how deep the exam goes on alarm system testing intervals and the specifics of medical air versus medical vacuum requirements.
The pass rate I've seen referenced is around 65 to 70% on first attempt, which is lower than I expected for a credential tied so closely to on-the-job knowledge. Makes me think the exam tests edge cases and regulatory nuances more than day-to-day operational knowledge. Is NFPA 99 the primary framework tested or does NFPA 55 come up heavily too?
