Anyone found good free SHRM-CP study resources besides the obvious ones?

I actually failed the first time by a few points. Total gut punch. But passed on the second attempt with a comfortable margin.

Also switched from reading to doing. Less time with the textbook, more time on practice questions with detailed answer explanations.

Great discussion. One thing nobody mentions: sleep the night before matters more than one more study session. Went in fully rested for my SHRM-CP and felt sharper than expected.

Coming back to this thread — just passed my SHRM-CP yesterday. Everything about the shrm-cp practice test section is accurate. For anyone still studying, the free shrm cp knowledge items was the closest thing to the real exam I found.

Just passed mine last month, so this thread is hitting close to home. The free resources are honestly kind of scattered but I found that combining a few things worked way better than any single source. SHRM's own Learning System excerpts (they post some sample content openly) are underrated for getting the right framing — the exam thinks in terms of the SHRM BoCK competencies, not just knowledge recall, so you need to practice applying concepts to messy situations, not just memorizing definitions.

The thing that actually moved the needle for me was doing timed practice under exam conditions. I used the shrm-cp practice test on here pretty heavily in the last two weeks — what I liked is that the situational judgment questions actually feel like the real thing, where two answers both seem defensible and you have to think about what SHRM's framework would prioritize. That's the skill the exam is actually testing. YouTube channels are fine for concepts but they can't really replicate that.

One thing I'd add: don't sleep on the SHRM community itself. The HR professionals on SHRM Connect and a few subreddits share real scenario questions from their own prep. Cross-referencing those with your weak spots from practice tests is a pretty efficient use of study time in the final stretch.
