I've done 7 practice tests now and my scores on CHA exam questions are consistently lower than everything else.
I understand the concept when it's explained directly, but when it shows up in a scenario or application question I freeze up. It's like my brain knows the theory but can't connect it to a real situation fast enough.
Currently spending extra time on "CHA" study material but I don't feel like it's clicking. Has anyone dealt with this and found a specific approach that helped?
Things I've tried:
- Re-reading the textbook section (not helping)
- More practice questions on this topic specifically (some improvement but not enough)
- Watching YouTube explanations (hit or miss)
Any advice on how to actually internalize this concept rather than just memorizing surface-level facts?
If you're looking for a starting point, the free cha principles of haccp is worth trying — the questions closely match what you'll see on test day.
This thread saved me from making the same mistakes. The tip about study guide being weighted heavily is accurate — I adjusted my study time based on this and it made a real difference. Also seconding the recommendation for certified haccp auditor test.
Failed my first attempt, came back to this thread for motivation. The advice about really understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing the right ones — is the single best piece of advice I've seen for the CHA. Rebuilding my prep around that principle now. Using certified haccp auditor test for the concept review.
The advice about understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing right ones — is genuinely the best CHA advice in this thread. Rebuilt my prep around that and it made a real difference.
Coming back to this thread — just passed my CHA yesterday. Everything about the cha practice test section is accurate. For anyone still studying, the cha cha prerequisite programs food safety management 2 was the closest thing to the real exam I found.
