I work full time (43 hours a week) and just registered for the METRC. I'm trying to set a realistic study timeline before committing to a test date.
From what I've read, estimates range from 6 weeks to 13 weeks depending on background. My background is related but I've never taken a formal study guide course, so I'm probably starting at an intermediate level.
I've been using the metrc inventory management 2 to gauge where I stand, and my initial diagnostic scores are around 64%. Also reading through metrc test to fill in the theory gaps.
For those who've been through it: did you study daily or more intensively in bursts? Did your practice scores accurately predict your real exam performance?
Good thread. One thing I'd add: don't try to cram the night before. I did 2 hours the night before my METRC and I think it hurt more than helped. Your brain needs consolidation time. Light review or full rest is better.
For the people asking about study timelines: I studied 60 minutes per day for 14 weeks working full time. It's absolutely doable without burning out. The key is consistency — missing days hurts more than extending your timeline.
The advice about understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing right ones — is genuinely the best METRC advice in this thread. Rebuilt my prep around that and it made a real difference.
Coming back to this thread — just passed my METRC yesterday. Everything about the metrc practice test section is accurate. For anyone still studying, the free metrc regulatory compliance was the closest thing to the real exam I found.
