I work full time (45 hours a week) and just registered for the EMS. I'm trying to set a realistic study timeline before committing to a test date.
From what I've read, estimates range from 5 weeks to 13 weeks depending on background. My background is related but I've never taken a formal practice test course, so I'm probably starting at an intermediate level.
I've been using the ems inquiry & project-based labs to gauge where I stand, and my initial diagnostic scores are around 67%. Also reading through environmental management systems internal auditor certification to fill in the theory gaps.
For those who've been through it: did you study daily or more intensively in bursts? Did your practice scores accurately predict your real exam performance?
For the people asking about study timelines: I studied 65 minutes per day for 13 weeks working full time. It's absolutely doable without burning out. The key is consistency — missing days hurts more than extending your timeline.
Same experience here. The ems inquiry & project-based labs was what finally made it click for me — specifically the way it explains the reasoning rather than just giving answers. Took me 2 weeks of consistent practice but scores went from 68% to 80% by exam day.
Congrats on passing! Can I ask — how many questions did the actual exam have compared to what the practice tests simulate? I've seen different numbers online and want to calibrate my timing during practice.
