The FAA Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI) knowledge test is required for all initial CFI, CFII, MEI, and Ground Instructor certificates. It evaluates mastery of teaching theory, the learning process, human behavior, effective communication, student assessment, and instructor responsibilities as outlined in FAA-H-8083-9B.
