✍️ Sample DKT Questions & Answers

1. A tram lane is marked on the road. Under which circumstance may you legally drive in it?
To turn left at an intersection when within 50 metres of the turn

You may drive in a tram lane for up to 50 metres before turning left at an intersection.

2. At an intersection with no signs or signals, you are turning right and a vehicle is coming straight towards you. You must:
Give way to the oncoming vehicle going straight ahead

When turning right, you must give way to any oncoming vehicle going straight ahead or turning left. The vehicle continuing straight has right of way over the vehicle turning across its path.

3. When driving in rain, fog or on a wet road, you should:
Reduce your speed and increase your following distance

Wet, foggy or slippery conditions increase stopping distances and reduce visibility. Slow down and at least double your following distance so you have more time to react and stop safely.

4. To check your blind spots before changing lanes, you should:
Do a quick head check over your shoulder as well as checking mirrors

Mirrors do not show everything. Before changing lanes or merging, check your mirrors, indicate, then do a head check over your shoulder to cover the blind spot where a vehicle, cyclist or motorcyclist may be.

5. When driving in an area with pedestrians at night, even where street lights are present, you must:
Remain vigilant as pedestrians in dark clothing can still be difficult to see

Even in lit areas, pedestrians wearing dark clothing can be very difficult to see; always remain alert especially near intersections and crossings at night.

6. When approaching a pedestrian crossing where someone is waiting to cross, you must:
Slow down and be prepared to stop and give way

You must slow down and be prepared to give way to any pedestrian on or about to enter a pedestrian crossing.
