Question 2

A restroom partition replacement needs high moisture and graffiti resistance. Which material fits best?

Accepted Answer

Solid high-density polyethylene (HDPE)

Solid HDPE partitions are waterproof, do not rust or delaminate, and resist graffiti and scratching.

Question 3

Why should maintenance stock a supply of attic stock when new finish materials such as tile or carpet tile are installed?

Accepted Answer

Future repairs can use matching dye lots and patterns that may later be discontinued

Answer

Attic stock from the same production run makes invisible repairs possible after the product changes or is discontinued.

Question 4

Which wood product is best for exterior framing in direct ground contact?

Accepted Answer

Pressure-treated lumber rated for ground contact

Answer

Ground-contact pressure-treated lumber carries enough preservative retention to resist decay and termites in soil.

Question 5

When choosing a roof coating to reduce cooling loads on a low-slope roof, which property matters most?

Accepted Answer

High solar reflectance and thermal emittance

Answer

Cool roof coatings reflect sunlight and give off absorbed heat, which lowers roof temperature and cooling demand.
