What the CTP is and how it works

The CTP is the telehealth credential offered by the National Certification Board for Behavioral Health Professionals (NCBBHP). It shows that a practitioner understands how to deliver care safely and effectively at a distance.

How the exam is delivered. NCBBHP offers a remote proctoring option, so you can take the exam online with a live proctor. Before you book, check the official exam information page for the computer, ID and room requirements.

Format and scoring.

These are practice questions written for this site, not questions from the real exam. Each explanation shows why the right answer is right and why the others are wrong.

Example 1

Question: Which federal resource should a telehealth administrator consult when seeking funding to expand services to underserved rural communities?

• A is wrong because elevation may reduce swelling but tells you nothing about whether it pits.
• C is wrong because a still photo can show swelling but cannot show how the skin responds to pressure.
• D is wrong because walking tests gait and fall risk, not edema. It could also be unsafe for a patient who is short of breath.

Rule to remember: when you cannot touch the patient, coach them through the physical maneuver and have them report or show the result on camera.

Question: What affects platform usability?

Explanation:

C is correct. Usability is how easily people can use the platform. It depends on a clear, intuitive interface and on compatibility with the devices, operating systems and browsers that patients and clinicians already use. • A is wrong because telehealth runs on phones, tablets and computers. Screen size belongs to the user's device, not to the platform.
• B is wrong because "ad speed" is not a usability factor. Connection bandwidth does affect call quality, but that is a network issue, not platform design.
• D is wrong because room temperature affects comfort, not the software.

Rule to remember: usability belongs to the platform itself: its interface design and how well it works across devices and systems.

How to use these practice tests

• Get a baseline. Take the Start Practice Test without studying first, and note which topics you miss.

• Rehearse your setup. Before exam day, check your computer, camera, connection and room against the proctoring rules.
