Car Wraps Questions and Answers
- To begin, clean the surface with a paint-safe grease and wax remover to remove any dirt or grime. We recommend thoroughly cleaning the car with car wash soap (avoid using cleaners with waxes). The surface should then be rinsed with water.
- Dry the surface thoroughly with a clean, lint-free towel or paper towel. Pay special attention to ridges, edges, and seams, as these areas are frequently overlooked and may harbor the most dirt and grime. Wrap a lint-free towel around a squeegee and swipe multiple times to clean hard-to-reach edges. Swipe the towel with a clean portion until there is no dirt on the swiped edge. This may be time-consuming, but these edges are frequently where the ends of the film are anchored and may peel off if not properly cleaned, especially in vehicle wrapping installations.
- Grease, oil, or wax-covered surfaces reduce film adhesion and may cause bubbles in neglected areas. We recommend using a grease and wax cleaner to remove these contaminants. Alcohol-based cleaners, such as isopropyl alcohol, can be used, but they are not as effective as solvent-based cleaners at removing wax. Alcohol is best for spot cleaning and quick wiping down.
- Before applying the film, ensure the substrate is completely dry. To expedite the process, use a blow dryer or heat gun.
- To reduce the dust and contaminants that may accumulate on the surface over time, apply the film as soon as possible.
- Small cars can be fully wrapped with 50 to 55 feet / 15 to 16.8 meters long vinyl.
- Midsize cars can be fully wrapped with vinyl that measures 60 to 65 feet / 18.3 to 19.8 meters.
- Small SUVs, trucks, and vans require 65 to 75 feet / 19.8 to 22.9 meters of vinyl.
- Full-size SUVs, trucks, and minivans with a vinyl length of 75 to 100 feet / 22.9 to 30 meters.
- Develop a business plan. You will need to draft a plan first. Success is challenging if you jump into wrapping cars without a business plan. Part of your business plan should include getting the proper training if you aren’t sure you can do full and partial wraps well.
- Obtain Funding (If Needed) Starting a business is expensive, especially if you’re working alone. For the project, you might need to secure funding. Mortgages, loans, or online fundraisers may provide this funding.
- Select Your Business Structure Once everything is in order, you should choose your company’s organizational structure. You must have this legal identification if you want an employer identification number from the IRS, a business license, and general liability insurance. You will also need a business structure if you need auto insurance to travel to customers or compensation for any employees you have.
- Choose Your Company Name Even when customers don’t require their wraps, they can still recognize a good company by its brand. You must choose a name for your company that will distinguish it from rivals and becomes well-known in the vehicle wrap sector. The first thing that will entice customers to use your services is your company name.
- Register Your Business It’s time to register your business at this point formally. This is the most exciting step for your car wrap business’s future. You must register your company if you are not operating under your legal name to conduct business.
