  1. A circle has a radius of 7 cm. What is its area? (Use π ≈ 3.14)

    Answer: 153.86 cm²

    Area = π × r² = 3.14 × 7² = 3.14 × 49 = 153.86 cm².

  2. Convert 5 pounds to kilograms. (1 kg ≈ 2.2 lbs)

    Answer: 2.27 kg

    5 ÷ 2.2 ≈ 2.27 kg.

  3. A path 2 m wide runs around the outside of a 10 m × 6 m lawn. What is the area of the path alone?

    Answer: 80 m²

    Outer rectangle = (10+4) × (6+4) = 14 × 10 = 140 m²; lawn = 60 m²; path = 140 − 60 = 80 m².

  4. How many centimeters are in 2.5 meters?

    Answer: 250 cm

    1 meter = 100 cm, so 2.5 m × 100 = 250 cm.

  5. A trapezoid has parallel sides of 8 cm and 12 cm, with a height of 5 cm. What is its area?

    Answer: 50 cm²

    Area = ½ × (a + b) × h = ½ × (8 + 12) × 5 = ½ × 20 × 5 = 50 cm².

  6. A storage container holds 3,500 mL of liquid. How many liters is that?

    Answer: 3.5 L

    1 L = 1,000 mL, so 3,500 ÷ 1,000 = 3.5 L.

  7. The area of a square is 64 cm². What is the length of one side?

    Answer: 8 cm

    Side = √64 = 8 cm.
