A shopkeeper in Delhi buys goods worth ₹4,500 and sells them at a profit of 20%. What is the selling price?
Answer: ₹5,400
Selling price = Cost price × (1 + profit%) = 4500 × 1.20 = ₹5,400.
The average score of 5 students in a Wipro aptitude test is 72. If a sixth student scores 90, what is the new average?
Answer: 75
Total of 5 students = 5 × 72 = 360. New total = 360 + 90 = 450. New average = 450 ÷ 6 = 75.
A and B together can complete a project in 12 days. A alone can complete it in 18 days. In how many days can B alone complete the project?
Answer: 36 days
B's rate = (A+B's rate) − A's rate = 1/12 − 1/18 = 3/36 − 2/36 = 1/36. So B alone takes 36 days.
If 40% of a number is 160, what is 25% of that number?
Answer: 100
Number = 160 ÷ 0.40 = 400. 25% of 400 = 100.
The ratio of boys to girls in a TCS training batch is 3:2. If there are 30 boys, how many girls are there?
Answer: 20
Boys:Girls = 3:2. If boys = 30, then girls = (2/3) × 30 = 20.
A train travels 300 km in 4 hours. What is its average speed in km/h?
Answer: 75
Speed = Distance ÷ Time = 300 ÷ 4 = 75 km/h.
A sum of ₹8,000 is invested at 10% per annum simple interest for 3 years. What is the total amount at the end?
Answer: ₹10,400
SI = P×R×T/100 = 8000×10×3/100 = ₹2,400. Total = 8000 + 2400 = ₹10,400.
