What does the 'Collect in New Layer' command do?
Answer: It moves all selected objects from different layers into a single new layer
Collect in New Layer gathers selected objects (or sublayers) from various layers and places them together in a new layer, consolidating artwork organization.
How do you move an artboard and all its contents simultaneously?
Answer: Use the Artboard tool with 'Move/Copy Artwork with Artboard' enabled in the Control bar
When using the Artboard tool (Shift+O), enable the 'Move/Copy Artwork with Artboard' option in the Control bar to ensure all objects on the artboard move along with it.
What is the purpose of the 'Release to Layers (Sequence)' command?
Answer: It distributes each object or sublayer within a layer onto its own new sublayer in sequence
Release to Layers (Sequence) takes all objects in the selected layer and distributes each one to its own sublayer, creating a sequential stack useful for animation preparation.
How do you set a custom artboard size to match a specific print format?
Answer: Select the Artboard tool, then enter exact width and height values in the Control bar or Artboard Options dialog
With the Artboard tool active, you can type exact dimensions in the W and H fields of the Control bar, or open Artboard Options to choose from presets and set custom dimensions.
What is the difference between hiding and locking a layer?
Answer: Hiding makes objects invisible but still selectable; locking makes objects visible but not selectable or editable
Hiding a layer (eye icon) makes its objects invisible in the canvas. Locking a layer (lock icon) keeps objects visible but prevents any selection, editing, or movement.
How can you rearrange the order of artboards in a multi-artboard document?
Answer: Use the Artboard panel to drag artboards up or down, or use the arrow buttons to reorder them
The Artboard panel (Window > Artboards) lists all artboards and lets you drag them to reorder or use the up/down arrow buttons. This affects the numbering and export order.
