A train travels 360 km in 4 hours. What is its speed in meters per second?
Answer: 25 m/s
Speed = 360 km/4 h = 90 km/h = 90 × (1000/3600) = 25 m/s.
What is 15% of 240?
Answer: 36
15% of 240 = (15/100) × 240 = 36.
A shopkeeper marks his goods 20% above cost price and offers 10% discount. What is his profit percentage?
Answer: 8%
If CP=100, MP=120, SP=120×0.9=108, so profit = 8%.
Find the LCM of 12, 15, and 20.
Answer: 60
LCM(12,15,20): 12=2²×3, 15=3×5, 20=2²×5; LCM=2²×3×5=60.
If the simple interest on Rs. 2000 at 5% per annum for 3 years is Rs. 300, what would be the compound interest?
Answer: Rs. 315.25
CI = 2000[(1+0.05)³ − 1] = 2000[1.157625−1] = 2000×0.157625 = Rs. 315.25.
A can do a job in 10 days and B can do it in 15 days. In how many days can they finish it together?
Answer: 6 days
Combined rate = 1/10 + 1/15 = 3/30 + 2/30 = 5/30 = 1/6, so together they finish in 6 days.
