SDL — The School District Leader (SDL) exam is a New York State Teacher Certification Examination (NYSTCE) administered by Pearson on behalf of the New York State Education Department (NYSED). It is required for certification as a school district superintendent or assistant superintendent in New York State, and consists of selected-response questions and constructed-response assignments covering six competency areas: District Leadership and Community Involvement, Instructional Leadership, District Culture, Human Resources Management, Financial and Operational Management, and Ethics and Professional Standards. The full exam has a time limit of approximately 4 hours 15 minutes with a passing score of 220 on a 100–300 scale.
