A faucet drips at a rate of 15 gallons per hour. How many gallons will drip in 2.5 hours?
Answer: 37.5 gallons
Multiply the rate by the time: 15 gallons/hour × 2.5 hours = 37.5 gallons.
A shirt originally costs $40. It is on sale for 25% off. What is the sale price?
Answer: $30
25% of $40 = 0.25 × 40 = $10 discount. Sale price = $40 − $10 = $30.
If 5 workers can complete a job in 8 days, how many days would 10 workers take to complete the same job, assuming they all work at the same rate?
Answer: 4 days
