  • TSBP License: You must apply for and receive a pharmacy technician license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. This is separate from your PTCB CPhT credential.
  • PTCB Certification or Approved Training: Texas recognizes the PTCB's CPhT credential as meeting the knowledge and competency requirement. Alternatively, you can meet the requirement through an approved training program. Most employers require the PTCB credential specifically.

  3. Pass the PTCE (Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam): The exam has 90 questions (80 scored, 10 unscored) with a 2-hour time limit.
