PSSA — The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is administered annually by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to students in grades 3–8 in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and in grades 4 and 8 in Science; the exam is criterion-referenced to Pennsylvania Core Standards with four performance levels (Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, Advanced), and 'Proficient' is the established passing standard.
