Question 2

When a PMU artist assesses 'ptosis' in a pre-procedure consultation, what condition are they evaluating?

Accepted Answer

Drooping of the upper eyelid

Answer

Ptosis refers to drooping of the upper eyelid, which must be identified before eyeliner or brow PMU to ensure the design accounts for the lid position.

Question 3

In Fitzpatrick skin typing, why does a Type VI skin client require different pigment selection for PMU compared to a Type I client?

Accepted Answer

Type VI skin has higher melanin that can cause implanted pigments to appear warmer or shifted in hue

Answer

High melanin content in Type VI skin interacts with implanted pigments, often making cooler tones appear warmer or altering the healed color outcome.

Question 4

What anatomical reason makes the inner corners of the lips (commissures) challenging locations for PMU pigment retention?

Accepted Answer

High muscle movement and moisture cause rapid pigment breakdown and fading

Answer

The commissures experience constant movement from talking and eating, combined with moisture from saliva, which degrades pigment retention significantly.
