  1. A pie chart shows the following budget allocation: Rent 35%, Food 25%, Transport 15%, Savings 20%, Other 5%. If the total budget is $4,000, how much is spent on food and transport combined?

    Answer: $1,600

    Food + Transport = 25% + 15% = 40% of $4,000 = $1,600.

  2. If a stock price increases by 20% one day and decreases by 20% the next day, what is the net percentage change from the original price?

    Answer: -4%

    Starting at 100: after +20% = 120. After -20% of 120 = 120×0.80 = 96. Net change: -4%.

  3. A bar graph shows sales for 5 products: A=$12K, B=$8K, C=$15K, D=$10K, E=$5K. Product C's sales are what percentage of total sales?

    Answer: 30%

    Total sales = 12+8+15+10+5 = $50K. Product C percentage = 15/50 × 100 = 30%.

  4. A loan of $10,000 at 6% simple interest per year will accumulate how much total interest over 3 years?

    Answer: $1,800

    Simple interest = Principal × Rate × Time = $10,000 × 0.06 × 3 = $1,800.

  5. A survey of 200 people found that 120 prefer coffee, 60 prefer tea, and 20 prefer neither. How many prefer both coffee and tea?

    Answer: 0

    People with a preference: 200 - 20 = 180. Coffee + Tea = 120 + 60 = 180. Overlap: 180 - 180 = 0. Nobody prefers both.

  6. A table shows employee salaries: Department A (12 employees, avg $55K), Department B (8 employees, avg $65K). What is the overall average salary?

    Answer: $59,000

    Weighted average: (12×55,000 + 8×65,000) / 20 = (660,000 + 520,000) / 20 = 1,180,000 / 20 = $59,000.
