  1. A company's quarterly profits were: Q1: $45,000, Q2: $52,000, Q3: $48,000, Q4: $55,000. What was the average quarterly profit?

    Answer: $50,000

    Average = (45,000 + 52,000 + 48,000 + 55,000) / 4 = 200,000 / 4 = $50,000.

  2. If a product costs $80 and is marked up by 25%, what is the selling price?

    Answer: $100

    Markup = 25% of $80 = $20. Selling price = $80 + $20 = $100.

  3. A data set contains the values: 12, 15, 18, 15, 20, 15, 22. What is the mode?

    Answer: 15

    The mode is the most frequently occurring value. 15 appears 3 times, more than any other value.

  4. A car depreciates 15% per year. If it was purchased for $30,000, what is its value after 2 years?

    Answer: $21,675

    After year 1: $30,000 × 0.85 = $25,500. After year 2: $25,500 × 0.85 = $21,675.

  5. If 5 machines produce 200 widgets in 8 hours, how many widgets will 8 machines produce in 5 hours?

    Answer: 200

    Rate per machine per hour = 200/(5×8) = 5 widgets. 8 machines × 5 hours × 5 widgets = 200.

  6. The ratio of boys to girls in a class is 3:5. If there are 40 students total, how many more girls are there than boys?

    Answer: 10

    Total parts = 3+5 = 8. Boys = (3/8)×40 = 15. Girls = (5/8)×40 = 25. Difference = 25-15 = 10.
