  1. A car uses 8 liters of fuel per 100 km. If the fuel tank holds 56 liters, how far can the car travel on a full tank?

    Answer: 700 km

    Distance = (56 ÷ 8) × 100 = 7 × 100 = 700 km.

  2. Three partners invest $5,000, $8,000, and $12,000 in a business. If the profit is $50,000, how much does the partner who invested $8,000 receive if profits are split proportionally?

    Answer: $16,000

    Total investment = $25,000. The $8,000 partner's share = 8,000/25,000 = 0.32. Profit share = 0.32 × $50,000 = $16,000.

  3. A recipe requires a 3:2 ratio of flour to sugar. If you need 750 grams of the mixture, how much flour is needed?

    Answer: 450 g

    Total parts = 3 + 2 = 5. Flour = (3/5) × 750 = 450 grams.

  4. An employee earns $24 per hour for the first 40 hours and 1.5 times that rate for overtime. If they work 52 hours in a week, what is their gross pay?

    Answer: $1,392

    Regular: 40 × $24 = $960. Overtime: 12 × $36 = $432. Total: $960 + $432 = $1,392.

  5. A school has 500 students. If 60% participate in sports and 40% of those sports participants are girls, how many girls participate in sports?

    Answer: 120

    Sports participants = 500 x 0.60 = 300. Girls in sports = 300 x 0.40 = 120.

  6. A cylindrical water tank has a radius of 3 meters and height of 7 meters. Using π ≈ 3.14, what is its volume in cubic meters?

    Answer: 197.82 m³

    Volume = π × r² × h = 3.14 × 9 × 7 = 3.14 × 63 = 197.82 m³.
