Question 1 of 31👑 VIP
A teaching assistant reads the following passage aloud to a small reading group: 'The migratory patterns of monarch butterflies have puzzled scientists for decades. Each autumn, millions of these fragile insects travel up to 3,000 miles from Canada and the United States to their overwintering grounds in central Mexico. What makes this journey remarkable is that no single butterfly completes a round trip — it takes three to four generations to cycle through the migration. Yet somehow, the butterflies that have never made the journey before arrive at the same mountain forests their great-grandparents left months earlier.' A student asks, 'Why don't the butterflies just stay in Mexico year-round?' Based on the passage, which response best addresses the student's question while staying true to what the text actually states?
