  1. A car travels 120 miles in 2 hours. What is its average speed?

    Answer: 60 mph

    Speed = Distance ÷ Time = 120 ÷ 2 = 60 mph.

  2. A train travels at 75 mph. How far does it travel in 4 hours?

    Answer: 300 miles

    Distance = Speed × Time = 75 × 4 = 300 miles.

  3. A cyclist covers 45 km in 3 hours. At the same speed, how long will it take to cover 75 km?

    Answer: 5 hours

    Speed = 45 ÷ 3 = 15 km/h; Time = 75 ÷ 15 = 5 hours.

  4. Two cars start from the same point and travel in opposite directions at 60 mph and 40 mph. After 3 hours, what is the distance between them?

    Answer: 300 miles

    Combined speed = 60 + 40 = 100 mph; Distance = 100 × 3 = 300 miles.

  5. A person travels 60 miles at 30 mph and then 60 miles at 60 mph. What is the average speed for the entire trip?

    Answer: 40 mph

    Total time = 2 + 1 = 3 hours; Average speed = 120 ÷ 3 = 40 mph.

  6. A bus completes a journey in 8 hours at 54 km/h. What speed is needed to complete the same journey in 6 hours?

    Answer: 72 km/h

    Distance = 54 × 8 = 432 km; New speed = 432 ÷ 6 = 72 km/h.

  7. A runner completes a 400-meter race in 50 seconds. What is their speed in meters per second?

    Answer: 8 m/s

    Speed = 400 ÷ 50 = 8 m/s.
