Unit price = $7.50 ÷ 3 = $2.50; 20 items = 20 × $2.50 = $50.00.
A worker can pack 180 boxes in 4 hours. Working at the same rate, how many boxes can 3 workers pack in 6 hours?
Answer: 810
Rate = 180/4 = 45 boxes/hr per worker; 3 workers × 45 × 6 hours = 810 boxes.
A recipe makes 24 cookies and requires 2.5 cups of flour. How many cups of flour are needed to make 60 cookies?
Answer: 6.25 cups
Flour per cookie = 2.5 ÷ 24; for 60 cookies: (2.5 ÷ 24) × 60 = 2.5 × 60/24 = 150/24 = 6.25 cups.
A bus covers 36 km in 45 minutes. What is its average speed in km/h?
Answer: 48 km/h
45 minutes = 0.75 hours; speed = 36 ÷ 0.75 = 48 km/h.
Office supplies cost $45 for 15 employees. If the company grows to 40 employees, how much will supplies cost at the same per-person rate?
Answer: $120
Cost per employee = $45 ÷ 15 = $3; total for 40 = 40 × $3 = $120.
A pool 50m × 20m is filled to a depth of 2m. Water is pumped out at 500 cubic meters per hour. How long will it take to empty the pool?
Answer: 4 hours
Volume = 50 × 20 × 2 = 2,000 m³; time = 2,000 ÷ 500 = 4 hours.
