If a shopkeeper buys an item for Rs. 800 and sells it at a 25% profit, what is the selling price?
Answer: Rs. 1,000
Profit = 25% of 800 = 200. Selling price = 800 + 200 = Rs. 1,000.
A train travels 360 km in 4 hours. What is the average speed of the train in km/h?
Answer: 90 km/h
Average speed = Total distance / Total time = 360 / 4 = 90 km/h.
What is the value of 15% of 240?
Answer: 36
15% of 240 = (15/100) × 240 = 36.
If 3x - 7 = 14, what is the value of x?
Answer: 7
3x - 7 = 14 → 3x = 21 → x = 7.
A pipe can fill a tank in 6 hours. How much of the tank will be filled in 2 hours?
Answer: 1/3
In 1 hour, the pipe fills 1/6 of the tank. In 2 hours, it fills 2/6 = 1/3.
The ratio of boys to girls in a class is 3:5. If there are 40 students in total, how many boys are there?
Answer: 15
Total parts = 3 + 5 = 8. Boys = (3/8) × 40 = 15.
